오픽(OPIc)을 위하여

오픽 시험은 두 번의 큰 변화(서베이 업데이트)를 겪어왔습니다.

바로 2010년과 2013년인데요. 쉽게 말씀 드리자면,

2010년에는 수험생들이 선호하는 약 14개 항목들이 삭제되었고

2013년에는 일상생활과 밀접한 항목들이 21개가 추가되었습니다. (인기 없는 항목도 23개가 삭제되었음)

이번에 새롭게 추가되는 항목들은 '쇼핑, TV 시청, 독서, 리얼리티 쇼 시청' 이렇게 4가지입니다.

과거에 업데이트된 걸 왜 지금 다시 끄집어 내느냐?

이유인 즉슨, '쇼핑, TV 시청, 독서' 3개의 항목들이 바로 2010년에 삭제된 항목들이라는 겁니다.

2007년 1월~2010년 7월까지 위 항목들은 오픽 응시생들이 가장 선호하는 항목들이었는데

갑지가 8월에 삭제되는 바람에 응시생들은 12개 서베이를 다시 전략적으로 짜고 대비하느라

그 당시만 하더라도 큰 어려움을 겪었던 적이 있었습니다.

설문조사에서 삭제된 항목들은 오픽 시험에서 모두 자취를 감췄을까요? 아닙니다!

그럼 설문조사에서 선택하지 않은 문제가 출제된다면 이건 돌발문제인가요? 그렇다고 볼 수 있습니다.

정리해 드리자면, 설문조사에서는 분명 삭제되었지만 다음과 같은 형태로 정기시험에서

계속해서 출제되어 왔습니다.

"You indicatedin the survey that you go shopping. ~."

카페 오픽 후기들을 보면 난 선택한 적도 없는데 선택했다고 문제가 나왔다는 내용들을 쉽게 볼 수 있는데요.

바로 이런 문제 유형이라고 보시면 됩니다. 

쇼핑, TV시청, 독서는 이제 정식으로 서베이 항목에 채택되었기 때문에 상관 없지만, 

삭제된 나머지 문제들은 위 문제처럼 출제될 수 있으니 이 부분은 잘 숙지해두시기 바랍니다.

그리고 이번에 새롭게 추가된 항목이 바로 '리얼리티 쇼 시청'인데요.

리얼리티쇼는 2014년부터 지금까지 아주 빈번하게 출제되고 있는 대표적인 돌발문제입니다.

결과론적이지만, 4개의 돌발문제가 이번에 설문조사 항목으로 새롭게 추가가 되었네요.

그동안 3콤보 문제와 롤플레이 문제로 출제되어왔던 기출변형문제를

칼럼을 통해서 최초로 공개해 드리겠습니다.

Shopping OPIc Questions

Q1. You indicated in the survey you enjoy going shopping. Why do you enjoy shopping? Who do you usually going shopping with? Where do you like to go for shopping?

Q2. When was the last time that you went shopping? When and where did you shop, who did you shop with, and what kind of activities did you do while shopping? Tell me about your recent shopping experience with a lot of details.

Q3. Tell me about a particular shopping experience you had in as many details as possible. When was it? Who were you with? Where did you shop? What and how did it happen? What kinds of items did you want to buy? Tell me about all the things you did on that day.

Q1. I’d like to give you a situation and ask you to act it out. Let’s assume that you are walking by your favorite shop and see a poster, saying that they are offering a promotional with big discounts. Go to the store and ask the manager 3~4 questions in order to learn more about its sale.

Q2. I’m sorry, but you have a problem you need to resolve. You bought an item at the shop, but you realize that the product is broken. Call the shop to explain the problem and offer two alternatives to handle this problem.  

Q3. That’s the end of the situation. Have you ever experienced that you purchased an item that malfunctioned or was broken? What kind of item did you buy? What was the problem with it? How did you handle that situation? Tell me about the memorable experience in as many details as possible.

Q2. I’m sorry, but you have a problem you need to resolve. You rent the DVD player and arrive at home, but you notice that it is not working properly. Call the shop to explain the situation and offer some alternatives to address this problem.

Q3. Very good. That’s the end of the situation. Have you ever experienced that there was a problem with an item or a device you borrowed or rent from someone? If so, when did it happen? What kind of item or device was it? What was the problem about? How did you handle that situation? Please tell me about the memorable experience in as much detail as possible.

Q3. Let’s talk about one of the interesting or exciting literature. When and how did you come to read that novel, poem, etc? How did it make you feel? Tell me about the memorable literature from the beginning to the end.

Q1. I’d like to give you a situation and ask you to act it out. Let’s assume that one of your friends read a book and said that it was very interesting, so you want to read it. Ask him/her 3~4 questions about the interesting book.

Q2. I’m sorry, but you have a problem you need to resolve. You borrowed the book from your friend, but you notice that you have misplaced it. Call your friend and leave a recorded message, explaining the problem. And then two or three suggestions to solve this issue.

Q3. Good. That’s the end of the situation. How did you initially learn to read books as a child? How has your interest in reading changed or developed as you’ve grown older? Tell me with a lot of details.
