Since it is more difficult for me to write in Korean due to my limited vocabulary, from now on, I choose to write in English. After purchasing the book online, I registered for the exam. I chose to give myself some time so that I could study without feeling rushed.
The price is extremeley high afterall, so I aimed for one shot and one kill. However, it turned out to be a bad decision because telling myself that there is still enough time left as the days go by, I always procrastinated. The time flied and when I suddenly realized that I only have a weeks time left, only then did I flipped over the first chapter of the book. There was a CD in which example answers were recorded and I could actually practice with the blank space provided for me to fill in. The book gave me an example answer so that I could refer to it.
Every time if I had some time, I listened to the recorded mp3 files that I have transferred on to my smartphone. Upon looking back, it helped me a lot. It gave me some ideas about what I would like to say if some particular questions should arise. It was finally the day! I was late for the exam. My exam time was around 11 but when I arrived at the place, it was already 12. Thank god that there was another round of OPIC test at that time.
I could have wasted my money. The sound though the headphone was not crystal clear so I needed to concentrate hard to catch every word my "interviewer" was saying. I tried to distribute my answer time evenly so that I could finish in time. I chose level 5, not the highest. The questions were easy at first but got trickier later. I tried to answer everything calmly but I panicked when I realized that I was the only one left in the test room. I could not finish the last question because the time was up.
So disappointed, I headed back to my place, regretting for that last unanswered question. I was pretty sure that I would get intermediate high at the best. Boy oh boy, checking my score, I could not believe that I actually got an advanced low. So proud of myself :) I nailed it and no more English-related tests ever until I graduate from my university.
